Our dedicated team ensure that our clients are fully aware of the potential scope of works and the associated costs so that there are no surprises. Focus will carry out all required sampling under chain of custody and ensure that all samples are transported to an IANZ accredited analytical laboratory for analysis. Contaminated Land Services & Landfill Monitoring

Focus provides a total project management approach to contaminated and potentially contaminated land. Focus can identify and investigate residential, commercial and industrial properties in accordance with the Contaminated Land Management Guidelines, the Ministry for the Environment's National Environment Standards (NES) & the discharge criteria outlined in the Auckland Unitary Plan (Operative in Part).

Focus provide Landfill Gas Monitoring services throughout New Zealand for both the public and private sectors. Focus can electronically monitor gases which are released through landfills, and can provide services such as the installation and sampling of gas monitoring wells.

Asbestos Management

Focus provides a total project management approach for all asbestos requirements. Focus can identify, manage and remediate asbestos containing materials in all forms of residential, commercial and industrial properties in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016, the Contaminated Land Management Guidelines, and the Ministry for the Environment's National Environment Standards (NES).

Our asbestos management services include:

  • Asbestos Building Surveys undertaken in accordance with the British Occupational Hygiene Society Guidelines (IP402)
  • Asbestos Management Plans & Asbestos Removal Control Plans

Occupational Exposure Surveys

Focus have experience working with employers and employees, monitoring the work practices, identifying the hazards and measuring the exposures. The occupational monitoring team at Focus Environmental Services can provide a thorough service that will give peace of mind to employers concerned with the health and safety of their employees. Focus can provide services such as the preparation and implementation of a plan to eliminate, isolate and minimise risk and to protect employees from the exposures.

waste characterisation

Focus can screen materials in-situ with an INNOV-X Delta Series x-ray fluorescence analyser (XRF) and a Photoionisation Detector (PID) to give on the spot indications of heavy metal, and volatile organic compound contamination, prior to collecting samples for chemical analysis. This can allow contractors to make early decisions on material quality, handling and/or disposal requirements and reduces down time.
